Our number one goal is to create healthful buildings and infrastructure at Engeye health clinic that can serve as educational tools for the wider community to promote holistic healthcare. We will develop strategies based on the top diagnosis recorded at the clinic, most of which are related to land use and building practices. In the design process, the emphasis will be on techniques that are easy to build, low-cost, low-maintenance and use local building materials. Because the clinic is already acting as a community center for the village, we see great potential for the design to enhance this activity so that the clinic acts like a campus, encouraging public gathering and the exchange of ideas for healthier living.
The design team will provide two deliverables by October 2010.
